Nascar fans, have you noticed that many married Nascar drivers are choosing to not have children? Don’t you think it is sad? Kevin Harvick, Jimmy Johnson, Greg Biffle all have mentioned going childless by choice. Sad. If good people don’t start having children or at least a child, the world is in trouble. This goes for anyone not just Nascar, I just happen to be a fan and have been hearing about their choices lately. Signed Mom of One and Nascar Fan in Alabama

Most of the drivers want children but are waiting until they are towards the end of their career. They don’t want to drag children from track to track. They want stability for their kids.

This guy (below) has done that several times (cut and pasted my answer). I report it and nothing happens. Apparently plagiarism is allowed here on Y/A.

TY Winter Glory for calling him out!

because live on the road is hard enough.. they really don’t want to bring children out on the road for roughly 40 weeks out of the year.

I’m going to take jaynarie’s answer, too.
But I’m not going to copy it word for word, that’s just tacky.
Jeff Gordon just had his first child and he’s 36 years old.
*imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so you should take the knucklhead as paying you a compliment, jaynarie, it’s a good answer*

There is nothing sad about it. One in five couples are choosing not to have children. The numbers are not different for Nascar drivers, over other career fields. Sandra Bullock and her hubby are child-free. Being child-free is just the "in" thing today. I am child-free and I am a software developer.

my husband and I dont have kids yet, we have been married for almost 5 years. I am only 27 and still have plenty of time. It annoys me when everyone thinks when you are married you have to have kids right away. I have loved the time alone with just me and my husband. We plan on starting soon, just havent yet. some of these drivers are just in their early 30′s, that is still young. I heard Delana Harvick in an interview a few years ago saying her and Kevin werent even sure they wanted kids, but in an interview a week ago, she said they were waiting till the end of Kevin’s career, they have so much going on right now. People can live happy lives without children.
